London Pub Crawl. Brixton

Now that the night tube is running on the Central and Victoria lines (24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays), there are no excuses to head south and spend some time in Brixton.

For those who do not have a clue about the area, I present some quotes found online, as a short summary:

“… embraces its unapologetically unpolished reputation. Evolving from a site of controversy and struggle during the 1990’s, Brixton has steadily increased its appeal without losing much of its cosmopolitan make-up…” [airbnb]

“… is a colourful, unique urban area that is like nowhere else in London. Brixton has a mix of residents, ranging from people that have lived in the district for generations to new residents that have moved prompted by a new trendy image that it has gained. It is a multi-ethnic community, with around 24 percent of the population being of African and/or Caribbean descent. There is a thriving scene for clubbing and live music, especially reggae/ska and rock…” [wikitravel]

“… is one of London’s coolest areas to live. It’s been gentrified but it’s no Shoreditch, still retaining some of its unique original charm..” [movebubble]

If you are not convinced yet, I can only say that it is really a cool area and it is worth a visit. Very good place for clubbing and live music, plus its well-known market and David Bowie mural (pictured above).

So as we did with Bermondsey, we propose an alternative pub crawl, with a very strict and meticulously selected list of places. Below you can find the map with all the pubs and a schedule to complete the pub crawl, including route and time. Alternatively, you can download a PDF.

Needless to say, this post can also be seen as a simple guide titled The Best Pubs in Brixton.
